By a shaded path with large majestic trees leading to the main courtyard, you will discover the surroundings of the castle: the French gardens at the foot of the medieval tower and the relaxing calm of the water mirror at the foot of the forest.
It is an exceptional green setting with its tall foliage, its large mown lawns where deer pass in the mornings and visiting children in the afternoons.
The current park was restored in 1955 by Fernand Rolin, landscape architect of the city of Bourges.
Everything is welcoming and seems to illustrate the motto "To live is to serve" that Alain de Maupas, grandfather of the current marquis, had engraved on the pediment of the door of the central tower.
Swings and a slide will also await your children in the shade of the weeping willow in the gardens near the shop.

Private property belonging to the de Maupas family for more than 300 years, the Château de Maupas has the precious privilege of being constantly inhabited by the de Maupas family who all devote its care to this family heritage.
Although partially listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments, the castle does not receive any state subsidies. Visitors, through their entry fee, form an essential part of maintaining this private heritage.
The Château de Maupas is best known for its unique collection in France of nearly 1000 earthenware plates from the 17th to the 18th century, made in European factories or brought back from distant travels...
Built under Louis XV, the south wing of this castle house the bedroom of Marie-Caroline de Bourbon-Siciles, Duchess of Berry.
This is the reason why the Château de Maupas is also called “Residence of the Duchess of Berry”.

Throughout your guided tour you will be able to admire the Blue Room where she stayed, the Room of Old Toys of the Maupas children, as well as the lounges.
