Morogues

The village of Morogues is located in a valley in the Pays Fort of Berry, just 1 km below the Castle. Its population of just over four hundred inhabitants is mainly made up of farmers, potters and winegrowers. In its beautiful church, every year at the end of January, the village celebrates Saint Paul, patron saint of winegrowers.

Several ceramic sculptors and potters have been established in the village for many years.

The church of Morogues was built at the end of the 13th century. Its patron saint is Saint Symphorien, celebrated at the end of August. A recent restoration has highlighted its architecture and revealed the richness of its decor. You can admire the entire building, from the "bure stone" bell tower from the outside to the chapels and the choir inside.

La Borne

The picturesque village of La Borne is seven kilometers from Château de Maupas. He is at the origin of this ceramic tradition in the surrounding villages specializing in sandstone.

Its numerous artists from all walks of life have lived here since the 1960s and exhibit their works in their workshops, open to the public.

The techniques and styles are very varied. In stoneware, earthenware or porcelain, the pieces are shaped using raku and biscuit techniques, with or without enamel, in wood-fired kilns of very varied sizes and shapes.

The La Borne Contemporary Ceramic Center is an important element of a unique pottery heritage in France.

Each season, it presents temporary exhibitions as well as workshops for adults and children. The Center is a place of local, national and international reference for the promotion of contemporary ceramic creation.
